DELTA-The Urhobo Youths Leadership Initiative(UYLI) a non-partisan group geared at building leaders and peace amongst youths of Urhobo nation situated in Delta Central has sued delta central politicians to vie for peace and a firm vantage point in their political undertakings especially during the imminent general elections of February 16th 2019 which is barely twelve days away from now.
The group which is aimed at grooming future and present leaders as well as promoting electoral peace sues all politicians, political stalwarts and electorates of different political parties and even all apolitical bodies particularly those within their caption area and the country at large imbibe peace keeping and shun electoral violence in the forthcoming general elections.
UYLI made this available to Bightnews in a statement signed by her National President Comr. Martin Akpore and Comr. Umukoro Okiemute Jackson, National Publicity Secretary and issued this afternoon.

“TAKE A FIRM STANDPOINT AGAINST ELECTION VOILENCE
I bring to you the warm compliments of Urhobo Youths Leadership Initiative (UYLI).
“Winning elections into public office is not a desperate task, nor is it winning power by any means necessary. It is not about smear campaigning, character assassination or inciting one group, tribe and religion against another just to score cheap political points. It is not about using hate speech or indecent language. It is a contest of ideas, battle of winning majority votes of the hearts and minds of the people, the selling of feasible policies and programs for bettering the lives of the electorate.” – Michelle Fafa Agbenorto, 2019.
The Urhobo Youths Leadership Initiative (UYLI) echoed it firms support this basic principle which is the most essential foundation to put down before embarking on seeking the mandate of the people through peaceful, transparent, free and fair elections.
The Urhobo Youths Leadership Initiative (UYLI) is highly concerned about a peaceful election and must remind the general public that it’s (peaceful election) not hinge on just one person or political party alone working to ensure peace but on a group of individuals and all the stake-holding mass with one goal of working to ensure a peaceful process before, during and after the elections. It will take the collective effort and activity of an evil minority group or individual to mess up the fine process because of the ulterior and selfish motives they have. Post-election conflicts are more prevalent and deadly than pre-election violence which are sometimes curtailed or reduced to the barest minimum.
We therefore call on the general public, political and non-political actors in Delta State especially in the Delta Central to desist from using hate speech and take a firm standpoint against violence widespread incidents of bullying, prying and vote-buying and clinch peace during the forthcoming 2019 general election.”
Comr. Martins utilized the medium to call for a free and fair polls in the forthcoming general elections.
