Okuama Crisis: Gen. Emareyo Blasts Tompolo, Secretary, Delta Gov’t For Inciting Tribal Tensions, Demands Accountability And Action 

Bight Newspaper reports that the the recent military invasion of Okuama Community members has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation as General Ejiwealth Emareyo, a respected leader, philanthropist, and advocate for human rights, has added his voice to the chorus of critics, accusing a notorious militant leader, General Government Oweizide Ekpemopolo (aka Tompolo), his secretary, Mr. Patrick, and the Delta State Government of instigating tribal tensions between the Ijaw and Urhobo communities.

In a statement personally signed by him on Friday, General Emareyo said;” I make bold to accuse Tompolo of being the mastermind behind the military invasion of Okuama Community, as he is the chief architect of the Okuama crisis,”

“His actions, through his secretary, Mr. Patrick, who hitherto lives in Okoloba, have caused harm and suffering for the people of Okuama, and I demand that he be held accountable for his actions.” He added.

General Emareyo also alleged that the Federal Government and Delta State Government are complicit in Tompolo’s actions, due to their reluctance to hold him accountable.

“I condemn their inaction, stating that it emboldens Tompolo’s behavior and perpetuates a culture of impunity.

“I demand that the government takes immediate action to address the crisis and ensure accountability for those responsible.”

Furthermore, General Emareyo challenged the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) to stand up for the Urhobo people and protect their interests.

“I warn that failure to do so may result in a repetition of the 1999 Warri Crisis, which may this time spring up between the once peaceful Urhobo and Ijaw communities,” he said.

“I urge the UPU to take a proactive role in resolving the crisis and promoting peace and understanding between the two communities of Okuama and Okoloba from Urhobo and Ijaw nation respectively.”

General Emareyo also warned that the blatant neglect of the Okuama people by the Federal and State governments, coupled with the recent upsurge of military apprehension of members of Okuama Community, including those living in diaspora, may lead to anarchy and further destabilization in the region.

“I demand prompt action to address the crisis and ensure accountability for those responsible

“The people of Okuama and the wider region deserve protection, justice, and peace. The people of Okuama and the wider region deserve better from their leaders,” General Emareyo emphasized.
