Bight Newspaper understands the Government of Bayelsa State has commiserated with the family of a Peoles Democratic Party stalwart, late Mark Bou, popularly known as Otobo 1 of Peretoru Community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the deceased’s family at Effurun-Warri in Delta State, the state Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, said the political class in the state received news of Mark Bou’s passing with great shock and a sense of loss.
He described the departed politician as one of his close allies whose absence will not only be felt by his immediate family, his native Peretoru community and local government but also the entire Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo, who also described the deceased as a trustworthy politician, acknowledged the far-reaching contributions of Mr Bou to the party’s success in the November 11, 2023 Governorship Election.
The Deputy Governor, however, encouraged the Bou Family, Peretoru Community, friends and political associates of the departed politician to take solace in the worthy legacies he left behind and protect them to immortalize his name.
He urged the political class to see Mark Bou’s departure as a call to more hardwork to build an enviable political culture based on truth and progressive ideas.
Responding on behalf of the bereaved family, Mr Isaiah Egberike, thanked the Deputy Governor and his entourage for the condolence visit, noting that the visit would go a long way to assuage the grief and pain of the family.
Others who spoke at the event including a representative of the Otobo 1 Movement, Mr Akpoebi Belemu, also expressed gratitude to the Bayelsa State Government for honouring their departed leader and members of the organization with the visit.
They, however, called for support during and after the burial to enable the Movement sustain the legacies of the late Mark Bou as well as expand its frontiers beyond the shores of Ekeremor Local Government Area.
The Bayelsa State Chairman of PDP, Mr Solomon Agwananagha, the Chairman, Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC), Dr Peter Singabelle, Chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Area, Mr Nemine Belemu, his Sagbama Area counterpart, Mr Richman Ebipade, among other dignitaries accompanied the deputy governor on the visit.
