BIGHT NEWS – The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party and others will on Wednesday (today) inspect election materials used during the November 16 governorship election in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed the inspection for the Mahmud Yakubu Media Centre, Yenagoa.

Punch correspondent in Abuja gathered on Tuesday that the development was sequel to an order of the Bayelsa State Election Petitions Tribunal, following a petition filed by the PDP and its governorship candidate, Douye Diri, against the governor-elect, Mr David Lyon, of the All Progressives Congress.

INEC, in a letter signed by Monday Utom, notified the state chapter of the PDP of the inspection.

Our correspondent sighted a copy of the letter marked INEC/BY/ADM/173/736.

According to the letter, INEC confirmed that the tribunal had granted an order for the parties to inspect the election materials.

The letter read in part: “Sequel to the order for the inspection of election documents, the commission wishes to inform you that the exercise will commence on December 11, 2019.

“The state office has resolved that all parties to this petition shall be in attendance during the exercise.

“However, only parties on whose request the said order was granted shall inspect the election
