…Gov. Dickson To Drive To Ekeremor By Xmas As Anticipated.

The immediate past Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo who is now the flag bearer of the People Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the people of Bayelsa State, the Bayelsa West Senatorial District to vote for the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming elections in the state. To consolidate on the achievements of the Restoration Government led by Governor Henry Seriake Dickson. Mr. Lawrence made the call when he made on the spot visit to the Sagbama/ Ekeremor road under construction. The essence of the visit according to him was to ascertain the level of work done on the road and to obtain first hand information about the ongoing project.

Mr. Lawrence said as an immediate past commissioner of the Ministry of works and infrastructure under whose supervision the Sagbama / Ekeremor was executed, the visit was imperative, essentially as a candidate of the ruling party in Bayelsa State, that such facts would aid him sell his candidacy to the people of Bayelsa West Senatorial; and to further stress the need for Bayelsans to deliver the People Democratic Party (PDP) candidates come 2019.

His words: “this is not an official visit, it’s on the spot visit, as the candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) and the immediate past commissioner of works and infrastructure. The Sagbama/ Ekeremor road is in my Senatorial district, my area of contest. We are here to get up to speed the level of work done on the road.

“Soon we will go out for campaigns. Our campaigns will be issue base; we will tell the people what People Democratic Party (PDP) have done as a ruling party here in the state and then challenge the APC to show the people what they have done for the people of Bayelsa Bayelsa State”.

Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo who called on the people of Bayelsa State to vote all the candidates contesting under the People Democratic Party, starting from Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to state house of Assembly, acknowledged that the state have benefited immensely from the party. Adding that, the Federal Government’s projects existing in the state were projects awarded at the time the People Democratic Party was in power at the center. While expressing displeasure over the absence of Federal Government presence in Bayelsa State since the All Progressive Congress (APC) came on board even though the state have a Minister of Agriculture for state among others, Lawrence stressed that Bayelsans can always rely on PDP, that the next election “will be a referendum on the achievements of the Restoration Government”.

More so, with the completion of the Aleibiri Bridge and the commencement of beam launching on the Isampou bridge which is about 2km from the headquarters of Ekeremor Local Government Area, there is high tendency that the Governor and the people of Bayelsa State will drive to Ekeremor Town during the yuletide as anticipated. The Setraco project manager had given assurance that the sand filling which is already at Amanagbene axis of the road will be completed up to Ekeremor Town in few days time, particularly as they had already commenced sand filling from the Ekeremor Town axis. Out of the 24 beams required to complete the Isampou bridge, 23 are readily available on site. And pouring of raw cement on the already sand filed axis between Isampou – Amanagbe – Ekeremor has commenced also.

Recall that, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson had said he would drive to Ekeremor town during the 2018 Xmas first in the history of Bayelsa State. All things being equal, this would be achieved given the pace at which the contractor is pushing the road further. However, the contractor attributed the delay in the work to the recent flood and some communal factors that disrupted major construction activities on the road.

While expressing satisfaction on the progress made so far on the Ekeremor road, the state commissioner of finance, Mr. Maxwell Ebiba appreciated the Governor, His Excellency Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson for his focus and determination to develop Bayelsa State. According to the finance boss, only those with lion heart would embark on such a gigantic projects at the time the state had lean resources. But he is impressed with the quality of work done on the project, anticipating that the Governor and indeed Bayelsans will drive to Ekeremor town during the yuletide, as proposed.

“I am happy that we’ve gotten real value for the money spent on the road. As a Government we look forward to the full completion of the road soonest”, Maxwell said.
