Bight Newspaper reports that the Bayelsa State government has declared Friday the 5th of April, 2024 a work free day due to the imminent local government elections in the State.
The information was contained in a letter issued by the State Head of Service, Barr(Mrs) Biobelemoye Charles-Onyema on Thursday.
The letter stated that the State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has declared Friday 5th April 2024, a work free day to enable civil servants other than those on essential duties travel to their various hometown for the local government elections scheduled Saturday 6th of April, 2024.
Recall that the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission, BYSIEC had earlier scheduled the Local Government Council elections in the State to hold on Saturday 6th, April 2024.
