Gov. Dickson Reacts As INEC Declared Wike Winner Of Rivers Governorship Election

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson has congratulated the Governor of Rivers state over his reelection victory in the just concluded governorship election in Rivers State. Reacting to the unlawful activities that characterised the poll, Dickson condemned the involvement of security agencies that almost disrupted the process, adding that their actions were anti-democratic.

A statement released via his official twitter handle, the described Gov. Wike’s landslide victory as victory for the good people of Rivers State.

His words: “I congratulate Chief Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State, and the good people of Rivers State on the victory at the just-concluded elections in the State.

“I equally condemn the unlawful activities of certain security agencies whose anti-democratic actions almost disrupted the process.”, the statement reads.

Bight News had reported that, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State winner of the March 9 governorship election in the state after polling a total of 886,264 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Biokpomabo Awara who garnered 173,859 votes.
