Non Indigenes’ Communities In Bayelsa Throw Weight Behind Douye/Lawrence Candidacy
…Say Dickson Govt Gave Them Sense Of Belonging
…Enjoin Every Non Indigene To Queue Behind PDP Come November 16th.
The non indigenes’ communities in Bayelsa State have in an all inclusive stakeholders’ meeting held on the 5th of October 2019 at the Tamara Hall, Otiotio Yenagoa, thrown their weight behind the candidacy of Sen. Douye Diri and Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
The stakeholders’ meeting that had in attendance leaders, women, youths, traditional rulers of the Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba communities as well as other non indigenous communities, was organized to sensitise non indigenes in Bayelsa State on the need to support the candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Douye Diri and his running mate Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo in the November 16th Governorship polls.
Various speakers from the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria gave reasons why the People Democratic Party should be voted into power, to consolidate on the achievements of the Dickson led restoration government, which to them have shown them a sense of belonging.
Addressing stakeholders of non indigenes’ communities in Bayelsa State, Hon. Ozims Ferdinand Ozims, a Special Assistant on Non indigenes Affairs, South South Zone, said the Gov. Dickson led restoration government have ensured protection of lives and properties and the enabling environment for businesses to thrive. He said non indigenes trading in Bayelsa State are doing well in their various businesses as a result of various interventions put in place by the restoration government.
Ozims added that, Governor Dickson has created a history in the political anal of Bayelsa State, by appointing nine (9) non indigenes into position of trust as Special Assistant (SA) to represent the interest of six geopolitical zones in his led restoration government. Ozims said no other government has given the non indigenes’ community such level of recognition and supports.
“Security is the primary function of every government. The government of Bayelsa State led by Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, have been able to provide us security, to protect our lives and properties; which has enable us to do our various businesses in the state.
“In the anal of political administrations in Nigeria, this is the first time a particular government appoints nine (9) non indigenes into position of power” Ozims said.
Hon. (Surv.) Faruna Aminu, Special Assistant on Non indigenes Affairs, North Central Zone, while stressing the need for Bayelsan non indigenes to support the candidacy of Sen. Douye Diri/ Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, said the candidate of the People Democratic Party, Douye Diri has proven that he is concerned about the welfare of non indigenes in Nigeria. Noting that, while in the national assembly he sponsored a bill, aimed at giving everyone the right to vote and be voted for, irrespective of their state of origin. Adding that he is confident that Douye Diri and Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo will make life meaningful for Bayelsans and the non indigenes when elected.
In their separate remarks, Hon. Tony Madu, Special Assistant on Non indigenes Affairs, South West Zone; Hon. Shade Shittu, Special Assistant on Non indigenes Affairs, South West Zone; Alh. Sani Yakubu, Special Assistant on Non indigenes Affairs, North East/ West Zone and other traditional rulers, said the Dickson government recognized them and gave them a sense of belonging in the state. And that as courtesy demands, the non indigenes’ communities in the state will reciprocate the kind gesture by voting PDP for continuity and consolidation.
Various delegates who spoke on behalf of the six geopolitical zones urged their wards, children, wives, husbands, brothers and every non indigenes in the state to support Sen. Douye Diri and Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo joint ticket, in the interest of Bayelsa State.
Chairman of the event, Hon. Alex Tesufa Dumbo, immediate past Special Adviser to the Governor on Non Indigenes’ affairs who is presently a serving commissioner in the state, in a good will message, commended the non indigenes’ communities in Bayelsa State for their immense supports and contributions toward the success of the Dickson led restoration government, and their resolves to support the candidacy of Sen. Douye Diri and Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
He noted that their resolves to work together to deliver People Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Governorship polls is an indication that they mean well for the State and they are concerned with her development.
Hon. Alex said the duo of Douye Diri and Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo will advance development beyond what the Dickson led administration has done in the state. He said they will operate an all inclusive government where every Bayelsan as well as the non indigenes will be given a sense of belonging.
“PDP has the structures to win election in Bayelsa. But that can only happen with your support. The non indigenes community is a very large community. It cut across the entire local government area in Bayelsa State.
“Douye Diri and his running mate has a plan of building better relationship with the non indigenes in Bayelsa State. I have their words to convey to you that after the election the Douye Diri will incorporate more non indigenes into his led PDP government”, Hon. Dumbo said.
