…Comr. Akpe Lauds Group Over Election of New Leadership.
Bight News correspondent gathered that, one socio-political group known as Meinbutu has endorsed Sen. Douye Diri and his running partner Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the imminent gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State as her sole candidates for the gubernatorial race.
The Meinbutu Group which is under the leadership of General. Bounanaowei, deemed it profitable to all Bayelsans as they affirmed and enjoined all to drum support for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and her guber candidates Sen. Douye Diri and Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo in the forthcoming election in Bayelsa State.
This decision became inevitably necessary, after the group is said to have carefully assessed and scrutinized the multitude of the governorship candidates aspiring to step into the shoes of the Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson’s led restoration government come February, 2020.
The endorsement was made after a new leader Comr.Iniyekebi emerged from what is described as a credible, free and fair election process as president of the group in Warri, Delta State on Saturday, 12th October, 2019.
The group described their endorsement as not only being the latest, but has also added up to the series of similar endorsements for Sen. Douye Diri and Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, whom has become the new bride in Bayelsa politics in relation to the upcoming governorship election in the State scheduled to hold on 16th Nov, 2019.
It should be recalled that the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party had also received to their collective aspiration, several endorsements from different socio political groups across the State including the Yoruba and Hausa Community in the State.
Bight News also gathered that political analysts contend that this feat signposts the fact that Sen. Diri is an acceptable candidate found worthy of support by various political associations in various political parties due to his track records and glaring capacity to run the affairs of the Ijaw Nation.
During the endorsement, the Meinbutu vouched to support Sen. Diri and his running mate Sen. Lawrence’s governorship ambition, stating that it has resolved to endorse the PDP governorship candidate based on his consistent and strong belief for the struggle of resource control.
The Meinbutus also recalled how Sen. Douye Diri was elected as the first organizing Secretary of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) , stating that his administration, if elected into office, would introduce a fresh air in the government which will lead to another face liberation of the Ijaw Nation.
Comr. Ebikebina Akpe who was an eyewitness to both the election process and the emergence of Comr.Iniyekebi congratulated the new leadership of the group.
“I pray that the new Meinbutu executive carry on with the vision and mission of the Ijaw Struggle.” Comr. Akpe said.
“Comr. Iniyekebi is a man that is very grounded in the Ijaw struggle and I believe he won’ t fail in this regard. ” He Added .
