Bayelsa Guber: PDP Restoration Caucus Begins Process Of Candidate Selection
… As Senator Douye Diri, Barr. Kemela Okara And RT. Hon Talford Ongolo Indicate Interest

YENAGOA – The Restoration Caucus òf the Bayelsa State Chapter òf the Peoples Democratic Party, Governor Dickson’s political family, has commenced the process for the selection of the party’s candidate for the November 16, 2019 Governorship election in the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Mr. Feynman Wilson, said in a statement on Sunday that the Restoration Caucus òf the PDP took the decision in a meeting under the leadership òf the State Governor, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson.

Wilson said that the meeting followed the successful conclusion of the three days fasting and prayer session which was organized by the state to seek the face of God on the critical issue of the selection of the next gubernatorial candidate for the PDP in the state.

According to him, three credible and respected members of the Restoration Team: The Chief òf Staff, Government House, Rt. Hon. Talford Ongolo, the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Kemela Okara and the Senator representing the Bayelsa Central District in the National Assembly, Senator Douye Diri, have indicated interest in picking the governorship form.

The Governor’s political aide said that the indications by the three persons did not preclude other members of the Restoration Team who have interest in the governorship from approaching the party to pick the forms on their own.

He explained that all such members of the Restoration teams who are interested in the governorship race would be required to present themselves to the party and the Restoration caucus for necessary engagement after procuring the form.

Wilson thanked the members of the PDP Restoration Team under the leadership of the Governor for their steadfastness, discipline, dedication and commitment to the affairs of the party and indeed the administration over the years.

He stressed further that the Restoration Team which controls over 80 percent of the PDP In Bayelsa was the only Group that has the cohesion, Strength and capacity to win the next governorship election as it has demonstrated in clear terms with victories in previous elections.

He said, “After the three days of fasting and prayers, organized by the state government to seek the face of God in the process of selecting the party’s candidate for the next gubernatorial election, the Restoration caucus met and decided that the process for the selection of Candidate has started.

“So far three people have indicated interest in collecting the party’s form and presented themselves to the caucus.

They are the SSG, Kemela Okara, the Chief òf Staff, Talford Ongolo, and Senator Douye Diri.

“This does not preclude any other member of the Restoration Team that may also wish to indicate interest from doing so. The three people mentioned above are required to go get their forms on their own.

Upon procurement of the forms, others who are also interested are required to present themselves to the caucus and the party for possible engagement.

The caucus thanked members of the Restoration team for their discipline, orderliness, dedication and commitment to the party and to Restoration Team which constitute over 80 percent of the PDP in the State.

It is indeed a fact that the Restoration Team is the only political structure that has the cohesion, strength and capacity to win the next governorship election in the state as it has done with previous elections.
