Sagbama Student Community Backs The Nominations Of Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo As A Running Mate To Sen. Douye Diri
…Says He’s An Ijaw Man.
SAGBAMA – The Student Community in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, have backed the nomination of Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo as a running mate to Sen. Douye Diri under the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 16th 2019 Governorship election in the state.
In a press statement issued by the leadership of the National Union of SALGA Student (NUSS) after an executive meeting, the students community applauded Sen. Douye Diri for nominating Sen. Lawrence as his running mate. The President of the students community, Comr. Timipaghayofa Amgbare said the choice of Sen. Lawrence as a deputy Governor is in the interest of Bayelsa State.
In his words; “Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo had served Bayelsa state meritoriously as a Commissioner of Works and infrastructure. In his time many projects were initiated; with some are still ongoing, a lot have been completed.
“Projects like the Senate Building in Niger Delta University, NDU internal road, Africa University Senate building, Bayelsa International Airport, the Restoration Flyover, and other projects like the Sagbama Ekeremor road among others, that are beneficial to the student community were initiated by the Dickson led administration and supervised by Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.”
The students also called on those sponsoring campaign of calumny and blackmails against his nomination to desist and support Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. Adding that the senator is an Ijaw son of the Tarakiri clan in Sagbama LGA of Bayelsa State. The students stated that apart from being an Ijaw man by genealogy, he is a Bayelsan and as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he has the right to vote and be voted for.
“Bayelsa West is in better position to produce the deputy governor and Sagbama LGA been considered is appropriate. Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo is an Ijaw man. He’s a Bayelsan and he speaks Ijaw very fluently. More so, he is intellectually sound and competent. The students added.
The students called on all Bayelsans to vote massively for the people Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 16th Poll. Adding that the PDP led administrations have executed developmental projects in the state and with PDP winning the next election the Douye Diri/ Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo led government will consolidate on the achievements of the Dickson led administration.
