The King (Odhe II) of Okugbe Isoko Kingdom, HRH. Capt. Frank N. Okurakpo has presented a symbol of authority/ victory to Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the immediate past commissioner of works and infrastructure, the standard flag bearer of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Bayelsa West Senatorial District election in 2019, in his Kingdom situated in the Bifurcation of the Niger Delta, Osekweneke.

King Okurakpo, presenting the Symbol of Okugbe Isoko Kingdom “Coat of Arm” to Mr. Lawrence, said it represents Authority and certificate of victory in his election. His words, “I am presenting this to you, representing certificate of victory in the election. And that when you go the Senate, your name shall echo in the floor of the house and make Bayelsa State proud, like you did as a commissioner of works and infrastructure. Your name will be written in the history of Bayelsa State as on time Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

HRH. Frank N. Okurakpo – Odhe II is the King of Okugbe Isoko Kingdom situated in the bifurcation of the Niger Delta, Bayelsa State. King Okurakpo, in an apt explanation said “I am the Horn of Niger Delta; the Bifurcation is my Kingdom.

“The bifurcation is the first split of River Niger. Niger Delta start from here, to River Forcado and River Nun. Those two rivers gave birth to other creeks and rivers that drain into the Atlantic Ocean, that make it more deltaic. Here, at bifurcation see the terminal end of River Niger, the beginning of River Nun and the beginning of River Forcado.

“Our tradition and culture say that whatever we pronounce by faith comes to pass. That is why as the King, I am giving you this symbol to remember this day, that you met me on the throne.

“The throne of my father, my ancestors should support my prayers that your victory will not be shaken; it shall be permanent.” the decreed.

Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo who spoke through Mr. Ekisah Sinkumoh who is Special Adviser to Gov. Dickson, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, said they were in Osekweneke to pay a royal homage to the kingdom as courtesy demands, given the period we are. He said, during yuletide and festive periods children visit their fathers to spend ample time with them and present them wine and presents.

Dr. O. O. Osusu in his remark appreciated King Okurakpo for his gesture which he described as unprecedented and remarkably symbolic. Adding that Okurakpo lord over a kingdom that have a unique and exceptional cultural values and norms.

Earlier, Chief Etobor, father of Oghenekaro Etolor (Nigeria Footballer from Bayelsa State) appreciated Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for considering King Okurakpo’s kingdom a yuletide visit, stressing that the king’s royal gesture is to appreciate Mr. Lawrence for giving his Kingdom and others in the senatorial district a sense of belonging this season.

Similarly, the Amada-Owei II of Adagbabiri community in Sagbama local government area, HRH Arowell Diffa, has crowned Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo as the Amatolomo-owei 1 of Adagbabiri community.

Diffa while conferring on Mr Ewhrudjakpo the traditional title noted that
the decision was informed by his voluntary humanitarian service to humanity and his achievements as commissioner for work and infrastructure after wide consultations with all stakeholders.

Diffa said Mr. Lawrence’s efforts contributed to the development of Bayelsa state by the Dickson led restoration government, hence the need to bless him and give him a place in their traditional council and support him to win the forthcoming election in Bayelsa West senatorial district.

In his words: you have served the state well as the immediate past commissioner of works and infrastructure. You were instrumental to major infrastructure development in the state by the Dickson government.

“Today I crown you, the Amatolomo-Owei 1 of Adagbabiri community. You are an Engineer by actions and experience.”

The title “Amatolomo-Owei I” means the one saddle with responsibilities to make a community clean/ developed.

Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo had only visited the HRH Diffa’s palace to reach out to him, his council members and the Adagbabiri community, a programme he designed to give a sense of belonging to leaders in Bayelsa West senatorial district, having provided Christmas packages to all the major communities in the district. But got a chieftaincy title in appreciation for his kind gesture and contributions to Bayelsa development.

The people Ebedebiri community of have resolved to vote massively for Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo in the forthcoming Bayelsa West senatorial district election. This was made known yesterday when Lawrence and his team visited the community to reach out the Hon. Peter Akpe, leader of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, member representing the people of Sagbama constituency I and HRH Chief John. A. Eseimokumor (JP) the community Amanana-Owei, who are both political and traditional leaders of the Ebedebiri community.

Chief Eseimokumor embraced the candidacy of Barr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo saying that he’s the most preferred Senatorial candidate to represent the people of Sagbama and Ekeremor Local Government Areas in the Nigerian Senate.

King Eseimokumoh who described Barrister Ewhrudjakpo as an “upright and dedicated man” also acknowledged him as a son of Tarakiri who has pushed the frontiers of development to all the communities in the kingdom.

The traditional ruler while dishing out his royal blessings and approval to the candidacy of Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo said, he deserves the votes of his Ebedebiri people.

“The Restoration Administration which you are a key player as the immediate past commissioner of works has brought development to the door step of our communities” the monarch acknowledged, adding that Lawrence is their candidate in the coming election.

“We have resolved as a community to vote massively for you and other PDP candidates in the forthcoming general elections in the State and Nation”.

In his remarks Lawrence who spoke through Ekisah, commended the King for his role played in the sustenance of peace and tranquillity, also assured the king of his further commitment in the development of the Ebedebiri community.

Those in Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo’s entourage include Mr. Solomon Agwana, DG, Bayelsa West PDP campaign organisation, Hon. Ekisah Sinkumoh, Barr. Alex Dumbo, Mrs. Christy Ebele , Engr. Didi, Dr. Osusu, Hon. Vivian Prefa, Chief Godwin Adokeme, Mr. Tams Alari among others.
