INEC Reschedules Bayelsa, Kogi Guber Polls For 16Th Nov 2019.

Bight News reports that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rescheduled the Governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi States for 16th November 2019. The commission made this known to newsmen in a statement signed by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and voter education committee, Festus Okoye, Esq today.

According to the Commission, the elections were shifted by two weeks following several appeals from Government and stakeholders of Bayelsa State, that the earlier date coincided with the State annual Thanksgiving day which is backed by law.

Recalled that BIGHT NEWS reported that, INEC had on the 9th of April 2019 released the timetable and schedule of activities for the Governorship elections of Bayelsa State and Kogi State. The commission had fixed 2nd November 2019 for the elections of the both States.

Consequently, the timelines for other activities leading to the Elections have also been readjusted to align with the new date.
