Amassoma fire outbreak

Bight News – Residents escaped death as fire gutted about two buildings in Agbedi-Ama compound in Amassoma community Southern Ijaw Local Government area of Bayelsa State, damaging Properties worth millions of naira ranging from an Hilux, Camry Car and other interior belongings.

Mr. Tonbra Omonibo who spoke with Bight News via telephone, reported that the fire outbreak occurred at about 1pm Tuesday 25th December, 2018. According to him the fire outbreak may had been caused by fire an age woman identified as Mrs Patani had cooked with in the morning hours.

“The fire outbreak emanated from fire one old woman used to cook in one of the apartments” he said.

Bight News gathered that the age woman and other residents in two compound gutted by fire, but were able to make way out before the 12 apartments plank building got burnt completely.

Our source said the fire affected two buildings before it was put off by community folks who applied local materials like water, sand and Omo. A plank and block bu.

While some residents were able to move few of their valuables from their apartments, most had their properties worth millions of naira damaged including an Hulix and Camry.
