Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State


DELTA-Bight News understands that the Delta State governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has on Tuesday extended the total lockdown in the State by another two weeks.

This was made public by the state governor during a press briefing at his residence in Asaba the state capital.

Recall that Delta State has earlier reported three cases of the trending Corona virus out which two were reportedly dead.

According to the governor, the extension is necessary for the government to curb further spread of the virus.

“With three confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Delta State, we are working round-the-clock to curb the spread of the virus. This is why, I announced a two-week extension of the stay-at-home order, as well do.” Gov. Okowa said.

Governor okowa also promise the distribution of face mask and food across the state.

“In-line with the recommendations of global health experts, at the end of this week, we will begin the process of distributing free face masks across Delta State. ” He added.

“Additionally, I informed our citizens and residents that we are also working to fast-track the distribution of food items to low-income families and communities to cushion the effect of the lockdown.” He emphasized.
