Guber Poll: Oweilaemi Charges Bayelsans On Violent Free Elections

The President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Oweilaemi Pereotubo has charged the people of Bayelsa State to ensure a violent free elections during the forthcoming governorship polls in the state. Oweilaemi gave the charge today, during the “13th Niger Delta Dialogue” organized in Yenagoa.

The IYC president enjoined Bayelsans to see every candidate as Ijaw man/woman. He noted that Bayelsa is a homogeneous state and that whoever wins the next election will be the governor of all the Ijaw people in Bayelsa State.

“Do not kill your fellow Ijaw man for another anyone to win elections in Bayelsa State. All the candidates are Bayelsans and who ever wins irrespective of the political parties, will govern all Bayelsans” Oweilaemi said.

Charging potential candidates on their roles toward ensuring a violent free elections in Bayelsa State, Oweilaemi stressed that political actors must see their opponents as their fellow brothers. He charged them to base their campaigns on issues base devoid of campaign of calumny and blackmails, capable of fueling violent during and after the polls.

He enjoined various politicians to engage Ijaw youths in meaningful ventures that will change their future positively and in turn bring development to Ijaw nation. More so, he charged youths to stop being used as tools by politicians to perpetuate violent in the forthcoming elections.

The dialogue was tagged “Building Trust And Recovering Spaces For Nonviolent Elections In Bayelsa State”.

It’s aimed at engaging the people of Niger Delta, particularly the people of Bayelsa State on the need to have a violent free elections, during the forthcoming Governorship election in the State.

It was well attended by former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the President Of The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Oweilaemi Pereotubo, Amb. Boladei Igali, Chief Nengi James, Chief TK Ogoriba, Hight Chief Sara Igbe, Clement Ovokeroye Paul and other personalities of the Niger Delta Region.
